The Seahawks opened their season against the visiting Cougars of Chesapeake High School.  South River took an early lead four minutes into the game when Adriana Parker crossed a pass into the box which the Chesapeake keeper knocked away only to have South River forward, Alyssa Cowens tip the rebound into the goal for a 1-0 Seahawks lead.  South River managed several more shots in the first half only to be saved by good goal keeping or off frame.  Chesapeake managed to tie the score at the 29 minute mark when the ball was shot low in a scrum in front of the net under the diving play of Seahawks keeper, Maddie DuBois.  The score remained tied at halftime with both teams unable to add to their score.  The second half remained a back and forth affair with the Seahawks controlling much of the play but unable to get another goal.  The game ended with the 1-1 score in a well fought match.
