South River welcomed the visiting Chesapeake Cougars to Edgewater.  The Seahawks got on the board five minutes into the game when they were awarded a corner kick.  Gabby Holbert lofted the kick into the box which was headed over the keeper's hands by Bella Cerza for a 1-0 South River lead.  The Cougars defense held the Seahawks scoreless for the remainder of the first half.  South River pressured the Chesapeake defense early in the second half and were given six more corner kicks.  Holbert assisted on her second goal of the game when her corner kick was taken by Jaclyn Bredenkamp in the box and fired past the keeper for a 2-0 Seahawks lead. The South River defense held Chesapeake to a single shot on goal until the 85 minute mark when the Cougars were awarded a direct kick from outside the box.  The Cougars attacker lofted a perfect shot into the upper left corner of the goal to make the score 2-1.  Chesapeake pushed hard in the final minutes but were unable to get another shot on goal and the Seahawks held on for the 2-1 victory.
