The Seahawks opened their season against the visiting Huskies of Patterson Mill High School.  South River dominated play from the opening whistle.  The game remained scoreless until Alyssa Cowens broke through the Huskie defense to score unassisted for a 1-0 Seahawk lead.  Alex Hagen pushed the score to 2-0 when she took an assist from Mary Giaimo and fired past the keeper.  Hagen scored again minutes later off a pass from Maddalyn Kunst for a 3-0 South River halftime lead.  The Seahawks continued their domination in the second half and Hagen completed her hat trick when Isabella Cerza assisted her for a 4-0 lead.  Anna Ballard took a corner kick which was taken by Giaimo who passed it to Natalie Boyd who scored for a five goal lead.  Kunst finished the Seahawks scoring for a 6-0 final score off a pass from Jaclyn Bredenkamp.  The South River defense of Kambria Smith, Laney Owenby, Riley Reinhart, Taylor McLean and Kayla Hannon held the Patterson Mill offense without a shot on goal.
