In a battle of two undefeated teams, the Falcons of Severna Park High School came to South River to face the Seahawks for first place in the county. South River missed a few scoring opportunities in the opening minutes but great play by the Falcons goalkeeper kept the game scoreless until the ninth minute of the game. Kelsey Racette passed to Ashley Tarjick in front of the goal who spun around and shot low past the keeper for a 1-0 Seahawks lead. The remainder of the first half was a back and forth contest with both teams thwarted from scoring due to great defense and goalkeeping. Tarjick's early goal held up for a 1-0 South River halftime lead. Severna Park opened the second half dominating play and keeping the ball in the Seahawks half of the field for a majority of the half. Neither team could break through the defenses to add to the score. South River shuffled their defense of Mia Piazza, Becca McClenahan, Morgan McLean, Elizabeth Bills, Kayla Bobick, Kayla Hannon, Kelly May, Tess Casper and Natalie Boyd frustrating the Falcons and holding them scoreless for a hard fought 1-0 South River final. The Seahawks goalkeepers combined for seven saves for the win with Jordan Vincent recording two saves, Caroline Ashen with three and Julia Cobb saving two in the final minutes to preserve the shutout.
