South River faced a very strong Chesapeake squad on a rain soaked field for their second home game of the season.  The Seahawks immediately pressured the Cougars goal in the opening minutes of the game but fine play from the keeper kept the game scoreless.  Six minutes into the game, Cristina Young passed to an open Claire McElhenny who fired a shot past the keeper for a 1-0 Seahawks lead.  South River continued attacking the goal throughout the first half but were not able to break through and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.  The second half continued at the same pace with South River keeping pressure on the Chesapeake keeper without success.  The South River defense of Molly Youmans, Madison Baratta, Kaley Feldhausen and Zoe Racette were able to keep the Cougars from getting a good scoring chance.  With twelve minutes left in the game the Seahawks were called for a handball in the box and a Cougars penalty kick.  The Chesapeake player fired a hard shot over the goal to keep the score 1-0.  Although the Cougars managed to put some hard pressure on the Seahawks goal late in the game, they were not able to get a shot past Seahawks keeper, Colleen Wagner.  The game ended in a 1-0 Seahawks victory with South River outshooting Chesapeake 19-7.
