The Chesapeake Cougars came to South River riding a six game winning streak having outscored their last five opponents 19-0. The first half of the game was predominantly on the Seahawks side of the field with South River missing several scoring opportunities. Cristina Young was finally able to break the scoreless tie when she took a corner kick from Lauren Zinkl and shot into the lower right corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead, which South RIver took into the second half. Chesapeake was able to tie the game when Seahawks keeper, Colleen Wagner, was taken down in the box with an injury. The Cougars forward was able to shoot into an empty goal to knot the game at one. Allison Arslanian performed flawlessly in the goal in substitution of Wagner making one save before Wagner was able to return. With three minutes left in the second half the Seahawks defense misplayed a ball and the Cougars were again able to shoot into an empty net to take a 2-1 lead. The final minute of the game saw a Chesapeake forward sprint past the Seahawks defense and shoot past the outstretched hands of Wagner into the goal for a 3-1 lead. Thirty seconds later, Cristina Young scored her second goal of the game unassisted when she fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal to make the score 2-3. Unfortunately time ran on out the Seahawks and Chesapeake escaped with a hard fought win despite being outshot 14-6 by South River.
