On a warm sunny day at Southern High School's bermuda field, the South River girls' JV started fast scoring a goal in the first 90 seconds of the game. Claire McElhenny took a pass from Erin Grigsby and fired a shot past the Bulldogs keeper for a 1-0 lead. For the next thirty-three minutes of the half, the Seahawks offense could not get past the Southern defense and settled for a 1-0 halftime lead. South River started the second half in a flurry and scored four goals in the first six minutes of the half. Alexis Ward headed in the second goal of the game off a corner kick from Lauren Zinkl. One minute later, Jackie Natoli crossed a pass into the box which was taken on the fly and volleyed into the goal by Erin Grigsby for a 3-0 lead. The next three minutes saw cousins Jackie Natoli and Shelly Natoli each score unassisted goals to push the lead to 5-0. Jackie lofted a twenty yard shot over the keeper into the right side of the net and Shelly did the same into the left corner of the goal. The Seahawks continued to press the Bullsdogs keeper into duty with several shots on goal until Kelsie McGlynn scored unassisted to push the lead to 6-0. The South River defense of Kayla Carson, Amanda Wijntjes, Allison Criswell and Allison Dudley stymied the Southern attackers allowing only two shots on goal the entire game. South River keeper, Colleen Wagner, stuffed a breakaway with ten minutes left in the game and a wild scrum ensued in front of the goal until Allison Arslanian cleared the ball out of the box to secure the shutout. Lauren Zinkl closed out the Seahawks scoring when she took a pass from Allison Criswell and shot past the keeper for a final score of 7-0. The Seahawks controlled most of the play and outshot the Southern attack 19-2.
