As the sun was setting on the match, and the air began to cool, it was Sam Simmons and Mary Duggan who rose everyone's temperatures as the two combined in the final match of the day for a win, which proved to be the clinching match for the Seahawks.

After winning the first set in a tiebreaker, fellow teammates Alex Fagan and Emre Brock had come off of their court victorious to know the match at 4-4.  Simmons and Duggan had the match and the Seahawks' hopes resting on their racquets.  After falling behind 2-4 in the second set, at deuce, Simmons ripped a forehand down the alley past Great Mills to win the game, and proved to be a turning point in the second set. 

The duo fought back, extended the set to a tiebreaker, and won in the tiebreaker 7-5, setting off a boisterous South River sideline.  The win ended Great Mills hopes for a perfect season, as South River was the first team this season to upend the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference's first place team.

Xiaosong Shang and Ryan Flemming helped contribute to the win; both cruising to double bagel victories at number one girls' and boys' singles, respectively.  Maya Fromme rounded out the day for the 'Hawks with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number two girls' singles.

South River improved to 6-1 overall with the win.  The Seahawks hit the courts for their final match before spring break tomorrow when the team travels to take on rival Arundel at 3:30 p.m.
