The Seahawks took out their frustrations on visiting Broadneck in the opening round of the playoffs with a 9-1 victory. Scott Mitchell took the ball and was dominant on the mound cruising through 5 innings allowing just one run over five innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered six hits on the way to the win. Austin Wright took over in the 6th and held Broadneck hitless over two innings, allowing no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Offensively the Seahawks jumped on Broadneck starter Mike Thomas when Joe Scott lined the first of his three hits into centerfield. After advancing on a wild pick-off throw to 1st base, he scored on Nick Sia’s single to RF. South River then added three runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Nick Sia and an error.
Scott Mitchell jumped on Broadneck for three hits while Joe Scott scored four runs breaking the single season record for runs scored. The Seahawks now face Old Mill in the second round of the playoffs.
