South River pours it on, floods Glen Burnie 12-0
The Seahawks rained hits early, scoring six runs in the first three innings to put this one away.
In the field, Nick Raimondo took the hill for the Hawks for his first start of the year and pounded the strike zone, yielding just one hit, while striking out seven in five innings.
The offensive deluge started with an RBI single by Nick Raimondo in the first inning, scoring Scott Mitchell, who had doubled. In the second, Brody Raimondo and Jake Gratz got the inning going with singles, and Gabe Vertucci followed with a sacrifice fly. Kyle Canavan then ripped an RBI single. Mitchell came up and continued his big day at the plate, clearing the bases with a triple. Connor Cox finished the scoring in the second with a sacrifice fly.
The Hawks padded the lead with five runs in the fifth. Cox's opposite field triple got things going, plating Vertucci, Mitchell and Canavan. That was followed up by Nick Raimondo's single, scoring Cox, and Grant Atchison's double, scoring Raimondo.
South River had 15 hits, with seniors Jake Gratz, Nick Raimondo, Mitchell and Cox combining for 10 hits and nine RBIs.
The Hawks moved to 10-3 overall with the win.
