South River outhits Broadneck, but loses it's first 5-4.
Despite a 12-hit effort and a furious rally in the sixth, the Seahawks (6-1 overall) could not fully solve Broadneck's Michael Thomas, and dropped their first game of the season, 5-4 at Broadneck High School.
The Hawks push in the sixth started with a double by Vertucci, the Hawks only extra base hit of the day. Singles by Scott Mitchell, Conner Cox, and Austin Wright cut the lead to one, but the Hawks could not push the tying run across. Vertucci, Mitchell, Wright and Brody Raimondo all had two hits for South River.
Craig Sheridan was on the mound for the Hawks and went 5 innings, surrendering 5 hits and 4 walks while tallying 4 strikeouts. Nick Raimondo came on and pitched an effective sixth. Thomas went the distance for Broadneck.
