Mitchell soars, Seahawks fly to a 10-1 victory

Scott Mitchell led South River at the plate and on the hill Thursday afternoon, propelling the Hawks to a 10-1 victory over Abington Heights (PA) in the final game of the Seahawk/Cougar Invitational at South River.

Mitchell tallied two RBIs on three hits, singling in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.

He was similarly impressive on the mound, striking out six and walking only one over six innings. Lefty Nick Raimondo came on in the seventh and struck out the side in his first appearance on the rubber this spring.

The Hawks piled on 11 hits, and put the game away in the sixth on a two-run single by Mike Labs and a smash RBI double by Pierce Tyrrell.

South River never surrendered the lead after scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell. They tallied three runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings. Catcher Jeff Patterson had two RBIs on a line drive single, Craig Sheridan, NIck Raimondo and Grant Atchison had key hits, while Kyle Canavan, Gabe Vertucci and Brody Raimondo also had RBIs for the Hawks, who improved to 3-0 overall.
