In a complete turnaround, the 'Hawks played their best game of the season against Meade. Even when making outs, the Seahawks hit the ball hard in slashing 12 hits on the afternoon. In the field, the 'Hawks were flawless until a meaningless error in the final frame.
In the first inning, Ryan Schoenbauer ripped a double and scored on a Kevin Loftis single. Scott Mitchell followed with a single - one of his three hits - before Charlie Hardesty also singled into left field. The problem??? The balls were hit too hard to score additional runs!
For the game, Loftis scored twice; Bryan Shores had three hits including a double and an RBI; Schoenbauer had 2 hits including a double and scored a run; and, Joe Scott walked twice and scored a run.
But the story was really the performance of Scott Mitchell on the mound and at the plate. Mitchell pitched a complete game, striking out 6, walking 3 and giving up only 2 earned runs. At the plate, his 3 singles led the way.
The middle of the Seahawk order (Schoenbauer, Loftis, Mitchell and Shores) was devastating, going 10 for 16 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs.
